Central Park, New York Pre-Wedding Shoot

Sometimes when you get married, you don't always have time on the day of to get all the pictures that you want. Sometimes it's even helpful to book a separate session before/after the session itself, just so that you can make sure to get some additional highlight images for yourself and your family.

That's what happened with Wendy and Andreas. While they had gotten a lot of amazing photos on their wedding day, there was unfortunately some bad weather and they weren't able to do outdoor photos in Central Park on the same day as their wedding. So instead, we booked some time on a weekday evening to go to the Bethesda Fountain, and take some photos in their original wedding day livery.

An advantage of having a separate wedding session like this is that we get to be indepenent of the hustle and bustle of a tight wedding schedule. A second advantage is that it is a lot more casual and intimate - it's just the the three of us and we can spend time getting our favorite poses. A third advantage is that with a longer session, we can actually try different lighting setups as the light changes throughout the evening. If you look at our photos, you'll notice that at the beginning we were taking photos in late afternoon light, and then it ended on a set of images with Wendy and Andreas being lit by only the lamp that lights the walking paths.

Regardless of how you like to have your photos taken, if formal photos are a huge priority for you and your future husband, make sure to talk to your photographer about how you can structure your timeline to ensure you have enough space and the right light for the photos you want.
